![]() Lose weight while you sleep (for real)! Posted: April 25, 2010 | Views: 2940 Lose weight while you sleep (for real)! New study shows weight loss increased threefold while asleep. In the yearly meeting in the Associated Professional Sleep Societies today,Dr. Walter Moraes of Universidad Federal Sao Paolo, Brazil, presented the findings from any study he recently conducted in which demonstrated that people losing weight three times like quick while asleep more than while lying in bed awake. Dr. Moraes studied 14 healthy menage 21-30, confining them on to a bed with built in scale that allowed him to constantly monitor these weight. The topics spent the night time in bed asleep, then remained asleep for the following eight hours, awake. These were given food and drink proportionate at their body-weight and, reported by this poster, didn't urinate or defecate during the study. Dr. Moraes seen that the average weight loss while sleeping was 1.9 gram/minute (or ź pound per hour), however only 0.6 gram/minute while lying in bed awake. Very much has been made recently with the connection between insufficient sleep and an increase in weight, which has been explained by alterations in the hormones which govern hunger and satiety, leptin and ghrelin. However, this study presents the tantalizing new possibility: which one's metabolism is increased while sleeping, resulting to more calories burned, and weight loss. Why could that be? It seems so really counter intuitive initially. After all, while sleeping, we seem to be doing lower than at some other point in our waking lives. And yet, there are many of possible explanations. The mind, which comprises only 2% from the body's weight, is answerable to 20% from the body's total energy consumption. We know that in rapid eye sleep (REM), by which we spend roughly 25% of our total sleep time, the brain's metabolism (the rate at which it consumes energy) is extremely high, even more than while awake. And while your body temperature drops while sleeping, during REM zinc increases, and this too could cause increased calorie expenditure (as one person discussing this study commented, "it's such as a furnace switching on and off across the night"). So that it may indeed be this a compounding for changes in the endocrine system leptin and ghrelin, in addition to any increased brain metabolism in REM (which can be mostly concentrated in the last half to third on the night, so that not getting enough sleep could also result in less time in REM), can be what cause us to reduce excess fat while asleep than awake. Finally, we know when the best time to be able to weigh one's self is actually, especially when trying to lose weight. weight loss, body weight, lose weight while you sleep, silver slim, metabolism |
